Gov. Hogan begin the debate by giving voters a recap of Maryland’s status when he first entered office four years ago. Under eight years of Hogan’s predecessor, Maryland had lost 8,000 businesses and 100,000 jobs, and suffered through 43 consecutive tax hikes. Where is the good ship Lady Maryland headed after four years with Gov. Hogan at the helm as captain? Nearly 5,000 additional business have come to or started up in Maryland. Not only has the Old Line State gained over 100,000 jobs, but more people in Maryland have a job now than at any point the history of the state. Finally, our governor has delivered $1.2 billion in tax, toll and fee relief for the people of Maryland. Unfortunately, Jealous has a darker, more grim view on the present status of Maryland.
