Letter: Keep Titus, Zimmerman in their posts

As an attorney engaged in general practice for 25 years, I would ask folks in Carroll to consider casting their votes in the upcoming primary for two candidates now serving us ably in our local courts.

First, please consider voting to retain Judge Richard Titus, who has been sitting since February of 2017, as Associate Circuit Court Judge. Judge Titus has deep roots in our county; prior to his appointment to the bench by Gov. Larry Hogan , Judge Titus was a law clerk to Judge Raymond E. Beck, and then a partner in a Westminster law firm for over 20 years. Having appeared before Judge Titus, I can attest to his competence, courtesy, thoroughness and even-temperedness. I believe Gov. Hogan made a fine choice to appoint Judge Titus and feel he deserves to continue serving us.

Second, I ask you to consider keeping Paul G. Zimmermann as our Register of Wills. Before being elected as our Register of Wills in 2002, Paul was an Assistant County Attorney in Carroll and Frederick counties, was counsel to the Maryland State Unemployment Board of Appeals and worked in private practice. I have probated wills and estates all over Maryland and have been a "customer" of Register of Wills offices in counties large and small. Paul's office is run with a rare mixture of competence and kindness not found elsewhere that is greatly appreciated during the trying time after a loved one has died, and when their affairs need to be put in order.

Accordingly, please consider both Judge Titus and Register Zimmermann when you cast your ballot at early voting, starting on Flag Day , June 14, or on primary election day, June 26.
