My father was born in this county in 1890. He cared about other folks, his farm and God's green earth. I have paid taxes here for a few decades myself. Nowadays in our county and in our country, money seems to be the major or the only deciding issue. Attitudes toward others can go seriously haywire. Perhaps I am a country bumpkin, but I can see that the spirit of Mr. Shoemaker's letter of Aug. 30 is just plain wrong. Emily Shank should be respectfully considered for her ability to speak on subjects such as health care and education. Bipartisanship and issues matter more than name calling and threats. It is not good to function in a mafia sort of way and only consider the so-called "family." Emily Shank functions with logic, reason and thoughtfulness. I will vote for a fresh influence. I will vote for Emily Shank.
