Letter: Commissioner candidate — whom is out of touch?

The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

The cowardly attack during Saturdays Westminster Patriots Resist Rally has me wondering, what do those perpetrators believe in when it comes to the Constitution? This terrorist attack, there is no other word for it, was a direct message to all citizens, they believe in the right to "cherry pick" from the ideals our Founding Fathers established. That they are entitled to voice constitutional principles that self-serve their twisted ideals in ways that use coercion to threaten, oppress, harass, and intimidate from darken corners.

Those terrorist are nothing more than cowards that fear expressing their ideals openly and transparently in the ways our founding fathers envisioned for "We The People."

To Haven Shoemaker, I think we all now know who is "Out of touch with America." Time for you to get the right right.

I look forward to hearing from our current Carroll County Commissioners and State Delegates on calling this cowardly act out as nothing more than what it is, terrorism and intimidation that does not befit the ideals and principles our Founding Fathers established for all.
