Letter: GOP keeps taking NRA money as more students killed in shootings

Since the beginning of 2018, more children have died in school shootings than military service personnel in combat zones. You have to ask yourselves where the real war is being waged. Every time there is another mass shooting at a school or elsewhere, all we get from GOP politicians are their meaningless thoughts and prayers.

As GOP politicians line their pockets with NRA cash, our children continue to die. It seems gun manufacturers are more important to the GOP than their children or should I say your children.

The bottom line is that the GOP can keep their meaningless thoughts and prayers in these situations. Trump put his Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos , in charge of a commission to look into the situation. DeVos said the commission has met twice to date and should have some recommendations at the end of the year. There have already been 17 school shootings this year with four in the month of May alone. There will probably be a lot more children killed or wounded through gun violence by the end of the year. Not a real priority for DeVos. I'm sure DeVos will run her bogus recommendations by the NRA first.

It's clear that the GOP and the Trump administration are owned and operated by the NRA. As long as the blood money pours into Trump and the GOP, the NRA has their support. Nothing meaningful will be done and the slaughter will continue. It's time to vote out politicians that take NRA money and put irresponsible gun policy above the lives of our children. It's time to vote these people out of office including the local politicians owned and controlled by the NRA.

The GOP must also stop talking about their pro-life credentials when they put the interests of the NRA above the lives of children going to school.
