Letter: Thanks for article on Chester Café

In the light of your recent article "Teens encouraged to loiter, hang out, have fun at Manchester nonprofit Chester Café," I would just like to congratulate the author on writing this wonderful story! What a breath of fresh air to open my newspaper and read an objective article about a place and people who care about our children. There should be more places like The Chester Café, and we should all come together, as a community, to keep it up and running.

As a mother, I would like to thank the owner of the Café, Dawn Horst, for doing such a selfless act and making our county a better place for our youth! Carroll County is known for its drug problem where overdose deaths of teens and young adults are on the rise. There have been more than 3,000 drug related deaths in Maryland over the past two years! We need more places like this one to keep our children safe and off the streets. Kudos to the owner, and kudos to the author for writing the article!
