I am amused by the White House's insistence that Samantha Bee be fired from her talk show for making an inappropriate comment about Ivanka Trump , advisor to and daughter of President Donald Trump . Samantha Bee was describing the plight of immigrant children separated from their parents. Although the reasons are complicated, the Federal Government seems to have lost track of nearly 1,500 immigrant children. Our immigration policies and laws are a mess and need to be updated by Congress to handle the challenges our country faces with immigration. But the Republican Congress has failed and so has the President to update our immigration policies although they have had opportunities to do so. Ask yourself, what has Congress done lately? Nothing. Meanwhile Ivanka posted a picture on Twitter showing her snuggling her son. It was a beautiful picture, but the timing was terrible. Samantha Bee was disappointed that Ivanka was not more forceful in discussing the issue of immigrant children with her father. After all, she is an "advisor" to the President. In the process, Samantha Bee used an inappropriate word to describe Ivanka, thus resulting in calls for her dismissal from her comedy cable show. There is no excuse for using this language but the irony strikes me given all the inappropriate language used by Trump to describe those who are handicapped, Gold Star families, minorities, liberal commentators, citizens of African countries, Hispanics, etc. His comments are hurtful and offensive. It is part of the reason our great country is divided today. Maybe it is President Trump who should be dismissed from office for his foul and offensive language. He is an embarrassment to our country and should apologize for all of his offensive comments.
