Here we go again. Scott Pruitt, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, is using our money to assuage his paranoia by having his office swept for listening devices. You may remember Pruitt, who was selected by Donald Trump to head an agency that Pruitt, as Oklahoma's Attorney General, sued 13 times. Pruitt is a climate change denier who continues to work closely with fossil fuel industries and chemical companies. Since his arrival at the EPA, Pruitt quickly and methodically killed or deferred regulations that had protected the environment. He is currently under investigation by the EPA inspector general for using military and private charter flights to fly him around the country, costing taxpayers over $58,000. Pruitt, and his around-the-clock protection security team, have spent a lot of taxpayer money flying around the country and world to attend meetings and conferences. Like on Aug. 4 when Pruitt and three staff members took a private air charter from Denver to Durango, Colorado at a cost to taxpayers of $5,719. Really? Pruitt has also traveled numerous times to Oklahoma spending half of the days in March through May in his home state. Maybe it's because he is considering a run for governor in Oklahoma and he doesn't want the fine people of his state to forget his name. We may never know though, because Pruitt spent $25,000 to purchase a soundproof privacy booth to allow him to conduct business, personal and otherwise, in secrecy. Pruitt is under investigation for that purchase as well. I guess we shouldn't be surprised after electing a president who likes to spend money he doesn't have. It looks like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
