In response to the incident, CCPS officials confirm that the student has been disciplined. However, the level of discipline has not been disclosed, and director of student services Dana Falls says that he would not consider the outburst an act of bullying. Winters Mill officials have kept the incident quiet, refusing to even acknowledge the situation. As a CCPS high school student myself, I see the blatant displays of white supremacist, homophobic and generally xenophobic ideals on a daily basis. It's a common occurrence in our high schools to hear slurs and threatening speech toward minorities from students, often without any disciplinary action taken other than an empty warning. We cannot sit by and ignore the culture of hatred brewing in our schools.
