Carroll citizens to participate in March for Life
Pro Life Carroll citizens will join hundreds of Marylanders in the 40th Maryland March For Life in Annapolis, seeking to defeat the “End of Life Options Act,” House Bill 399 and Senate Bill 311 that would legalize Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) here, and the defeat of proposed House Bill 1031, “Maryland Constitution Amendment On Abortion.”
We march from St. Mary’s Church 111, Duke of Gloucester St. to the Maryland State House, on Monday, March 4 at 6:30 p.m. Defending Maryland’s most vulnerable citizens, e.g., the intellectually and developmentally challenged, elderly and infirm, Maryland health care professionals, senior and disability rights advocates, and faith leaders are adamantly opposing PAS. Dr. Joseph Marine, associate professor of medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine calls the PAS bills “dangerous, unethical, discriminatory, unnecessary and hopelessly flawed. PAS refers to the prescribing of a non-FDA approved lethal overdose of a drug or combination of drugs to a person believed to have a terminal illness.
PAS is unethical, specifically prohibited by the Hippocratic Oath and opposed by the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Nurses Association, the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the World Medical Association. PAS is not medical care, has no basis in medical science or medical tradition and the drug concoctions used to end patients’ lives come from the euthanasia movement and not from the medical profession or medical research.” Further, “PAS is dangerous with illusionary safeguards in the bill: there is no requirement for formal psychiatric evaluation of patients, minimal informed consent, no witnesses to consumption of drugs required and no routine audits or impartial 3rd party oversight.” Second, we oppose H.B. 1031, “Maryland Constitution Amendment On Abortion”, a referred amendment to the 2020 ballot making voters decide whether or not abortion belongs in our Maryland Constitution. If placed on ballots, voters of moral conscience should vote no, denying a constitutional right to kill without restriction, God’s holy, innocent, unborn babies by dismemberment, salt poisoning, and other grisly late-term genocidal methods. Proposed laws to restore the right to life of unborn babies would be invalidated after passage of this deadly amendment. These days, even Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Acts are needed to prevent infanticide! God’s words: “The Lord hates hands that shed innocent blood,” “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter,” “Thou shalt not murder.”

Say no to memorial featuring Lincoln’s killer
It's outrageous that the Taneytown council is favorably considering erecting a Civil War monument by a Pennsylvania sculptor who is a member of several pro-Confederate groups. The monument is proposed to have a full-size statue of evil traitor John Wilkes Booth near a statue of our first- or second-greatest president Abraham Lincoln, whom Booth infamously assassinated. The infamy was so great that Booth’s family refused to have a marker at the traitor’s grave. (For what it’s worth, I think Washington was the greatest, but Lincoln was definitely second.)
The Washington Post had a strong article on this a few days ago. There have been many other media reports about this.
It will be a perpetual mark of shame on Carroll County if that monument is permitted to be built. The sculptor says he wants to show both sides of the dispute. But there can be no dispute over who was right and who was wrong in the Civil War, and it would be an incredibly disgusting travesty to erect a statute honoring the traitor Booth at this time! Taneytown leaders who think this would be good for business are terrible fools. And allies with treason.
Carroll County has become dominated by Republicans, although that was not the case for many decades before 1990. They claim to honor Lincoln, the greatest leader of the GOP. It’s incredible that they do not cry out in outrage and shame against an effort to erect to large new statue to Booth in Taneytown. It’s really shocking to me that they do not.
