Letter: Citizen concerns for 2018 Freedom Community Comprehensive Plan

My name is Bert Rushing, I live on the ground floor of Homeland Drive. I'm very concerned with plans for the High Commercial Activity on the Luers Avenue property.

My major concern is the flooding issue. One-third of the 70 condos are on the ground floor. I have pictures of water running down the hill to our condos, even before more building. It comes very close to my patio and our air conditioners.

We have a problem getting out on Route 26 now. One of the residents of Homeland was T-boned coming out of the condo. The resident's car was totaled, but by the grace of God she was not hurt. I suggest you check with the people that live beind Walmart as to their opinion of our issues. They will tell you that we have good reason to be worried.

This condo is called 55-plus. We are not all in our 50s. We have people in their 70s, 80s and 90s who maintain their own condo. Would you like a loved one of yours to live in this community? We will be exposed to noise from large diesel trucks, traffic (foot and vehicles), harsh commercial lighting, fear of flooding, more crime and the value of our property going down.

Thank you for hearing my concern and thank you for your consideration.

Bert Rushing
