Winery's wine wins award at Governor's Cup

Old Westminster Winery & Vineyard was been awarded the best white wine in the prestigious 2014 Governor's Cup competition held Aug. 17 in Timonium. Old Westminster Winery's 2013 Estate Albarino was recently awarded the best white wine in the 2014 Governor's Cup.

Grape growers and winemakers alike were honored for their creative and technical expertise in the areas of commitment to their craft and contribution to the Maryland wine industry. With more than 100 different wines competing for the best in category, including sparkling, whites, roses and reds, Old Westminster's Albarino was selected as the best white wine showcased in the prestigious competition by more than 20 expert judges employing blind tasting and evaluating the wine's structure, balance, finish and overall palatability.

Old Westminster poured its first vintage in the summer of 2013 crafted not only from its own cultivated vineyard but also from fruit grown by local Maryland Grape Growers.
