The Westminster Moose Family Center 1381 held its annual Westminster Moose Valor Award ceremony on July 14. During the ceremony, members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Westminster police Department and Sykesville Police Department were recognized for their service to the citizens of Carroll County.

Westminster Moose Valor Award plaques were presented to Private First Class Michael Beaumont, Westminster Police Department; and to Patrolman First Class Jason A. Kirkner, Sykesville Police Department. The loyal Order of Moose sponsors a national program called "Tommy Moose," which provides small stuffed "Tommy Moose" animals to first responders throughout the country to help them calm traumatized children they encounter during their duties. A dozen "Tommy Moose" was presented to each law enforcement agency at the ceremony.
