Detours and road closures planned for Westminster parade

Drivers should expect traffic delays and road closures Monday as the city holds its annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony.

The parade forms at 9:30 a.m. on Monroe Street near West Middle School and begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Monroe Street and Winters Street. The route follows Monroe Street to Pennsylvania Avenue and continues east on Main Street, ending at the Westminster Cemetery.

Street parking will not be permitted in the 48 hours before the parade on Monroe Street, North Church Street and East Main Street between Church and Bishop streets.

Portions of Monroe Street, Pennsylvania Avenue and Main Street will be closed at 9:50 a.m. Monday. Cross traffic will be allowed through until the parade approaches.

The parade and other festivities are expected to last two hours, and members of the Westminster Police Department will be stationed at multiple intersections to direct traffic.
