Campaign Priorities

1. Continuing to keep Westminster a great place to live, work, and play. Westminster is a wonderful place to raise a family, enjoy a high quality of life, and take advantage of the many resources in our community. One of the keys to Westminster being great is the fact that we have a safe community. Part one crime has dropped 23.5% in the last 3 years and is currently at the lowest recorded rate as far back as the records allow. I feel it is imperative that we continue this downward trend to insure Westminster continues to be a safe place.

We have a professional, committed, hard-working police force made up of a group of dedicated men and women. As chairman of the Public Safety Committee, as far as being a former US Army commissioned Military Police officer, I have an understanding of what it takes for our police force to perform their work. I have worked hard to get to know and support these individuals. I hope to continue to do so.

2. Fiscal responsibility has been the hallmark of my tenure as a councilman. I am confident that anyone who has regularly attended council meetings is well aware of my hawkish mindset related to ensuring that every tax dollar collected is as well spent as it can be. We have made great strides in the past number of years to put the city in what is its soundest financial footing that it has been on in quite some time. In addition, I am also a vocal advocate for small government and consistently resist unnecessary growth that could burden our taxpayers.

3. Working to allow businesses in the downtown area to prosper and grow and giving them necessary support has always been my goal. I will continue to work toward that. With our new fiber project underway, and already proving successful, a host of new downtown events and activities, both of which I have been instrumental in developing, the city is headed in the right direction. I intend to work diligently to continue this success.

As a downtown business owner myself, as well as a steadfast patron of our locally owned downtown businesses, I pride myself in supporting and advocating to help them be successful. I would encourage you to go downtown and take a moment to ask the business owners who they support.
