The Carroll County Board of Commissioners will be hosting a ceremonial gaming bill signing event Tuesday to show its appreciation for the eight years of effort by the county's legislators to get the bill passed.

The event will take place at 5 p.m. at the Reese Volunteer Fire Company in Westminster. Commissioner Stephen Wantz, R-District 1, said Neal Roop, mayor of New Windsor and the administrative assistant for the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association, and Del. Haven Shoemaker, R-District 5, both of whom were instrumental in getting the bill passed, will be speaking, and most of the county's legislators will be in attendance.

Wantz said he has reached out to the other organizations affected by the bill, including the county's fire companies and nonprofits, in hopes they will attend as well.
