The fire marshal is investigating the cause of a vehicle fire in Westminster Wednesday evening that threatened a nearby residence.
The fire occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. in the driveway of a home in the 300 block of Margaret Ave., according to a notice of investigation from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The vehicle, a 2011 Mercedes-Benz, was fully involved and it took 20 minutes for firefighters from the Westminster volunteer fire company to control it, according to the notice.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Brian Quick said that a window screen on the residence and a garden hose were damaged but no serious harm came to the house.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the arson hotline at 1-800-492-7529, according to the notice. Quick said that information can be provided anonymously.
