The 46th annual Flower and Plant Market opened Friday at Union Mills Homestead in Westminster and continues through the weekend. The market features hanging plants, annuals, perennials, vegetable plants, shrubs and heirloom vegetables.
"It's the season opener for us," said Jane Sewell, Union Mills Homestead's executive director.
Sewell said the market opened Friday for early birds eager "to get a head start on the weekend."
The market will also be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring specialty growers and vendors.
The Historic Shriver House and Grist Mill will be open for tours, and the Blacksmith Shop and Gift Shop will also be open. Kountry Kafe Catering will have a light lunch menu with items available for purchase.
The Roslyn Garden Club will host a hands-on project in the Children's Garden Corner on Saturday.
"This has been very popular," Sewell said. "Children can decorate a flowerpot and fill it with a blooming plant. It's great gift for Mother's Day."
