Taneytown establishes water and sewer committee

Mayor James McCarron has appointed six people to the City of Taneytown's new water and sewer committee, which has been assigned to explore potential options for reducing reduce the water and sewer rates while also meeting the city's debt obligations.

"I think we'll be able to thoroughly examine this issue. We have a lot of talent on the committee," McCarron said.

Mayor Pro-tem Diane Foster has been appointed to lead the committee, which also includes councilmen Joseph Vigliotti and Donald Frazier, who proposed at previous meetings ways should be found to reduce water and sewer rates. The trio will be joined by three citizen members: Barbara Cook, Gail Wilson and Jackie Jones.

Foster said the committee will meet at 10 a.m. every Tuesday through the end of September in Taneytown City Hall and the meetings are open to the public.
