A teenage girl is dead after a collision involving a commercial truck and a passenger car in Westminster on Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred at about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, when the 2008 Chevy Cobalt driven by Makenzee George, 17, crossed the double yellow line on the 1000 block of Sullivan Road, according to the release. A 2014 Freightliner truck, traveling south on Sullivan, then struck the Cobalt, and both vehicles came to rest in the grass off the shoulder of the southbound side of Sullivan Road.

The female driver was transported to Carroll Hospital and pronounced dead, according to the release, while the driver of the truck was uninjured.

The incident is being investigated by the Collision Reconstruction Unit, according to the release.
