The Westminster Police Department is looking for a male suspected of sexually assaulting a woman walking her dog Wednesday afternoon near Tahoma Farm Road and Md. 31.

Police described the male as 16 to 20 years old, slender, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 with no facial hair and a dark complexion. He was wearing all dark clothing and a hooded sweatshirt, according to police.

Officers responded to the area around 2 p.m. and spoke with a woman who said she was walking her dog on a footpath between Tahoma Farm and Long Valley roads when the man accosted her, according to the statement.

Capt. Pete D'Antuono with Westminster Police Department said the man came up behind the woman and sexually assaulted her, then fled on foot.

Police set up a perimeter around the area but could not locate the man Wednesday.

The man fled on foot toward townhouses, but since there are a large number of townhouses in the area, he could have fled in any direction, D'Antuono said.

The woman was taken to Carroll Hospital.

No weapons were involved in the incident, police said.

Westminster police are reminding people to be aware of their surroundings, and the department will increase patrols of the area, according to the release. There have been no other similar sexual assault reports in the area, D'Antuono said.
