Author Lily Myers Kaplan held a book reading and talk for residents of Carroll Lutheran Village on Oct. 16.
She read from her book "Two Rare Birds: A Legacy of Love," a memoir that recounts her spiritual journey after her sister's death following a 14-year battle with brain cancer and her brother-in-law's death nine months later after his 10-year battle with colon cancer.
The passages shared highlighted themes such as the power of love and forgiveness, finding strength through carrying forth legacy, inspiration in meeting death, and discovering courage through awakened spirituality.
