Health Department to hold rabies clinic Sunday

The Carroll County Health Department will hold its fall rabies clinic Sunday at the Carroll County Agriculture Center, 700 Agriculture Center Drive, in Westminster.

From 2 to 4 p.m., cats, dogs and ferrets can receive a rabies vaccination for $7; Maryland law requires all such animals older than 4 months to be vaccinated.

Rabies is a disease that can affect all mammals that is always fatal after the onset of symptoms. Infected wildlife can infect pets that can in turn infect humans, but vaccination offers protection.

To participate in the clinic, pet owners should download, print and fill out a rabies clinic form available on the Health Department website at cchd.maryland.gov/environmental-health-rabies-control.
