Fans of Edgar Allan Poe have a chance for a close encounter with the late writer at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, when the Enoch Pratt Free Library will bring a collection of Poe artifacts to the Mount Airy branch of the Carroll County Public Library.

The free event will feature presentations on Poe's life, work and death, as well as manuscripts Poe wrote, a piece of his hair and a fragment of his coffin. Poe's 207th birthday is on Jan. 19.
