Vehicle fire in Westminster results in no injuries

A car parked along the side of Pennsylvania Avenue in Westminster caught fire Wednesday morning, leading to a minor explosion, said Lt. Josh Evans of the Westminster Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched at 10:04 a.m. and arrived to find a green Pontiac engulfed in flames. It took five minutes to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was destroyed.

Evans said the car was running when the fire occurred and that a malfunction in the vehicle's engine resulted in the fire.

No one was injured, and the departments has contacted the fire marshal, he said.
