In school notes for Aug. 7, 2015

Charles Schmidt, of Westminster, was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at the University of Maryland University College.

Eric Sweetman, of Woodbine, was named to the spring 2015 dean's list at St. Lawrence University, NY.

The Historical Society of Carroll County awarded two Mike Eaton Scholarships to two Westminster High School graduates, Matthew Nicholas and Jeremy Price. Each student received a $500 scholarship for writing an essay about their most influential teacher. Each teacher written about received an engraved school bell.

Alexander Eichler, of Westminster, was one of nine Stevenson University students who took a trip to Staten Island, N. Y., in May to help rebuild homes that were damaged and destroyed by hurricane Sandy in 2012. He is part of the group Mission: I'm Home.

Ithaca College, NY, announced the following:

Emily Peters, of Westminster, graduated with a degree in integrated marketing communications.

Erin Berch, of Sykesville, and Benjamin Morse, of Taneytown, were named to the spring 2015 dean's list.

Amanda Meinschein, of Mount Airy, will continue her academic and athletic career this fall at Dickinson College, where she will join the Red Devils swim team. She is the recipient of a Founders Scholarship.

Erin Kerbert, of Sykesville, and Heather Rodkey, of Taneytown, were named to the spring 2015 dean's list at Marist College, NY.

Justin Massey, of Union Bridge, Nicole Mowder, of Eldersburg, and Maxwell Nozick, of Manchester, were named to the spring 2015 dean's list at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY.
