The Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department extended an invitation to the community to participate in the fire company's parade to be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 through the streets of Hampstead.

If your organization would like to build a float, march in the parade, or bring fire apparatus to support the parade, you are welcome to join them. There will be awards given for the best in class.

Escape to tropical paradise

The North Carroll Senior Center wants to warm you up this winter with a trip to the Southeast Coast and Bahamas.

The trip will consist of 10 days and nine nights, from Feb. 1 through Feb. 10. Take a cruise with them aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise line on the Grandeur of the Seas.

The cruise would leave the port of Baltimore at 4 p.m. and return to Baltimore around 7 a.m. Feb. 10, 2018. Stops along the way include Charleston, S.C., Orlando and Miami, Fla., and Nassau and CocoCay, both in the Bahamas.

Rates are per person, double occupancy and include cruise, port charges and government fees; please note that transportation to and from the pier is an additional $60 per person. This trip is open to anyone that is interested and those traveling must have their passport.

To secure your spot, an initial deposit of $350 per person double occupancy, or $700 per person single occupancy is required so that they can secure reservations and assign cabins. The final balance is due by Oct. 3. For those that book early, they will get the best prices, cabin locations and their preferred dining times.

The rates are $760, inside cabin category; $874, outside cabin category; $1,399, balcony cabin category or $1,406 balcony cabin category — depends on which level balcony it's on.
