The spring weather is prepping us for those long, warm summer days. What's the best way to cool off and have fun during the summer heat? Swimming!
The Lineboro/Manchester Lions Club pool will be opening May 27 to the public.
The pool is currently offering discounted early registration to families until May 6. To receive the reduced early registration fee, the registration form and payment must be postmarked by May 6, or submitted to the pool between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on May 6. They will accept cash, checks and credit cards; please note that credit cards will accepted for early registration only and after that, must be cash or check. Early registration is $125 for individuals and $275 for families; from May 7 to May 30, $150/individual and $300/family; and after May 30, $175/individual and $350/families.
Daily admission prices for those not purchasing a membership are $7/adults, $5/ages 3-12; free/ages 2 and younger; and $2 for non-swimmers. The facilities provide a large family pool with diving areas, a six-lane lap pool, children's pool, restrooms and a snack bar.
The pool opens May 27 and will close on Labor Day, Sept. 4. It will be open daily from noon to 7 p.m., except for when school is still in session, then it will only be open on Saturdays and Sundays until school is out.

Manchester VFD hosts 'Days Gone By'
The fourth annual Antique Gas Engine and Tractor Show will be held May 19 through May 21 at the MVFD carnival grounds.
The event, which sets up May 18, will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, May 19 and run 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 21.
The show will feature International Harvester, antique cars, trucks and fire equipment, entertainment, a flea market, and food. The menu consists of pit beef, ham and turkey; French fries, hot dogs and hamburgers, ice cream, snowballs and drinks.
A Fish Fry, hosted by the ladies' auxiliary will be held May 19 with entertainment by the Rivers Bend Band at 4 p.m. On Saturday, May 20, breakfast buffet and sandwiches will be available at 7 p.m., with a tractor and equipment parade on York Street at 2 p.m. and the Country Express Band performs at 5 p.m. Ending the weekend, on Sunday, May 21, breakfast food will be available at 7 a.m., the Backwoods Road Band performs at 11 a.m., and there will be a parade on York Street at 1 p.m.
Admission and parking are free, the flea market will be open daily and there is limited camping and grounds, though no hookups.

Millers Ladies Aid yard sale
The Millers Ladies Aid Spring Yard Sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 19 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20.
There will be women's, men's and children's clothing for sale, as well as toys, decorations, housewares, linens and electronics; and a silent auction. Feed your appetite by purchasing lunch or something from their bake table while you're there.
All proceeds earned go to the Millers Ladies Aid and used in their community outreach.
The event will be held at Millers United Methodist Church, located at 4224 Millers Station Road, Millers.

Hampstead Ravens program
The Hampstead Ravens Pitbulls Football is seeking children who will be five or six years old as of Aug. 1, to join them. Signing your child up for this program, the students will have fun, be physically active, build character and teamwork, learn football in a safe environment, and make friends.
Registration is $160 per child and includes use of all equipment, except for cleats and mouth guards, practice and game uniforms, and a custom jersey that players may keep. Practices will start in late summer.
The Hampstead Ravens organization isn't limited to the Pitbulls program, children up to age 13 can sign up for football and they're accepting registration for cheerleading as well.
