To be eligible, students must undertake a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn a cumulative semester grade point average of at least 3.4 on a 4.0 scale.

Megan McPherson, a junior at Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn., is doing a semester abroad at St. Andrews, Scotland. McPherson, of Mount Airy, is majoring in corporate communications with a minor in music. She has been named to the dean's list throughout her college career.

Brent McPherson, of Mount Airy, was named to the dean's list at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. He is majoring in environmental science, construction management.

Tyler Stephan, of Westminster, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2016 semester at Misericordia University, Dallas, Pa. Students qualify for the dean's list with a 3.55 grade point average or higher.

Michelle Fender, of Westminster, graduated from Georgia Southern Unviersity, Statesboro, Ga., during its fall 2016 commencement ceremony. Fender received a Master of Education in curriculum & instructruction - accomplished teaching.

Alexandra Jean Adamson, of Marriottsville, graduated with a degree in media arts and design from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va., during the December 2016 commencement exercises. Adamson was among more than 800 students who received undergraduate, master's, educational specialist and doctoral degrees.

Alexander Zabaldo, of Marriottsville, made the dean's list for the fall 2016 semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga. This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

The following local students were named to the dean's list for the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year at University of Wisconsin-Madison: Belle Nelson, of Eldersburg, College of Letters and Science; and Gabrielle Nelson, of Eldersburg, College of Letters and Science. To be eligible for dean's list, students must complete a minimum of 12 graded degree credits in that semester.

Matthew Sadler, of Mount Airy, was named to the dean's list for the fall 2016 semester at Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y. Sadler is a freshman majoring in chemical engineering. Dean's list students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

The following local students were named to the dean's list for the fall 2016 semester at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa.: Emily Rose Bartholet, of Woodbine, sophomore English major, and graduate of Century High School; Henry George Rincavage, of Westminster, senior archaeology major and graduate of Francis Scott Key High School; Matthew John Stranovsky, of Westminster, senior Middle East studies major, and graduate of Calvert Hall College High School. All students earning a position on the dean's list must have a grade-point average of 3.7 or above on a 4.0 GPA scale for the semester.
