The Asian Community Coalition (ACC) at McDaniel College will hold a Taste of Asia cultural dinner at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23, inside the Forum, located in Decker Center on campus.
Tonae Hamilton is president of the college's ACC, which sponsors the event. She said those who attend will sample Asian culture through dance, music and cuisine.
"This year's theme is 'Festival,'" Hamilton said. "There will be festival-themed decorations, a photo booth, and entertainment like fan dancing, Bollywood dancing, music and some songs."
According to Hamilton, the menu for the evening will include Chinese chicken salad, sweet chicken with rice cake, fried spring rolls, dumplings, a Singapore dish called Meesiam and sticky buns for dessert plus beverages.
McDaniel College students, faculty and staff as well as the general public, are invited. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a buffet-style dinner served at 6 p.m. and performances of dance and music beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $20 to the general public, $10 for McDaniel students and $15 for faculty of McDaniel College.
"We are trying to pay homage to the many festivals of Asia," Hamilton said. "If you want to experience a real live festival, come out and be a part of a traditional experience."
Tickets are limited. Call 410-857-2794 or 301-266-1086 to reserve yours or stop by that evening. Hamilton said if tickets don't sell out with pre-sales they will opt to sell tickets at the door as well.
