A new leader has been named at Komen Maryland, the local affiliate of the national Susan G. Komen breast cancer organization, and he's from Westminster.
Mark Roeder, who had been the president of the Maryland Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society since 2008, lives in Westminster with his wife and three children, according to a Komen news release. He will officially start in his new job Oct. 8, just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is October.
"I'm thrilled to take on the Executive Director role at Komen Maryland just in time for National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure on Oct. 25 in Hunt Valley," Roeder said in a prepared statement. "This is an important time of year in communicating our mission and raising funds that fuel the work of the affiliate throughout the rest of the year."
Prior to working at the National MS Society, Roeder was the director of marketing for Giant Food Stores.
