Color My World: 2 p.m. For adults. Are you an adult who likes to color in coloring books? It's OK to admit it. We're giving grown-ups the opportunity to experience this relaxing and fun activity. Patterns and pages will be provided, along with a rainbow of colored pencils. Feel free to bring your own coloring book and/or pencils.

Microsoft Office Basics: Word: 2 p.m. For adults. Join us for an introduction to one of the most popular applications included in Microsoft Office: Microsoft Word. Our class will be taught by a member of the Computer Science Teachers Association. All attendees need to register.

Sunday

Second Sunday Yoga: 2 p.m. For adults. Register for this event. Join registered yoga teacher Stacey of Branches of Yoga in Sykesville as she teaches you the relaxing and fulfilling practice of yoga. This class is for most levels and beginners are welcome. Please bring your own mat and a blanket if possible. There may be a few extras if you don't have your own.

Bradshaw for a series of Monthly Money Talks designed to help you understand more about financial topics. Get honest insights and valuable information that can help you make more informed decisions about your future. She, and other local guests, will tackle one important topic each month. Bring your questions and your friends for open discussions regarding timely financial matters.

Through gentle asanas (comfortable stretching), yoga nidra (deep relaxation), an introduction to pranayama (breathing practices), and meditation we work from the physical body to the subtle bodies, restoring and inviting peace to our being. No experience necessary. Please bring a mat and a blanket. All attendees need to register.

Knit Wits: 7 p.m. For ages 11-adults. Beginners, please bring a light-colored worsted yarn and size 8 needles to the class. If you know how to knit, please come and bring your project.

Transit of Mercury: 9 a.m. For all ages. On May 9, you can observe the planet Mercury as it moves between the Sun and the Earth. The Westminster Astronomical Society will have a telescope set up from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Stop by and take a peek.

Alphabet Train: U & V: 11 a.m. For ages 3-6. Climb aboard each week to explore a different letter of the alphabet through books, songs, and activities. All adult caregivers are welcome.

Getting Buggy with It: 2 p.m. For ages 6-14. During this two-week adventure (April 25 and May 9) students will explore insects looking at their anatomy, their roles in the ecosystem, and what insects and arachnids are in their neighborhoods. Only kids need to register.

This FutureMakers program is part of Library TECHsploration and is sponsored by a Curiosity Creates grant from the Association for Library Service to Children, made possible through a generous donation by Disney. Come Learn with Me @ the Library: Comprehension: Silly Sally: 10:30 a.m. For ages 2-5. This is a program focused on early literacy, where children and their caretakers learn and play together. The program features a 15 minute storytime followed by several stations that encourage the development of school readiness skills in children. Stations may include art, hands-on explorations, lots of play and social interaction, and plenty of fun activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

North Carroll Writers Group: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Interested in writing? Want to meet others who are too? The NCWG is dedicated to helping people improve their writing. Each session features a short exercise to focus on a specific writing technique, quiet time to work on your draft, and an opportunity to share your creativity in a non-judgmental atmosphere. If you would like to become involved, please join the NCWG, where your talent and love for writing can develop and thrive.

Swing: 10 a.m.-noon. For all ages. Treat yourself to a program of swing music, dance, and an author event to kick off the Westminster Flower & Jazz Festival. Edward Allan Faine, author of books about swing and jazz, for children, teens, and adults, will be featured. His works include, Ellington at the White House, 1969, Bebop Babies, and Ned Ventures: Teenage Life in the 1950s. Herb Sell and his exquisite music ensemble will play a range of American swing from the 1930s and 1940s. GottaSwing Dancers will swing and jitterbug across the outdoor stage. This program is sponsored in part by a Community Arts Development Grant from the Carroll County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council. A Celebrating America program.

US History Lecture Series: Civil War to WWI: 1 p.m. For ages 12-adults. This is a part of a four-week lecture series that will focus on the history of the United States from the Revolution through 2000. It is intended as an overview of the major issues and events that have shaped American culture and politics today. This session will cover Reconstruction, robber barons, and the rise of Progressivism. Our guest lecturer Gary Kavanagh is a retired federal employee. He holds a Master of Modern History and Diplomacy from George Washington University. He also previously taught social studies in Prince George's County. A Celebrating America program. All attendees need to register.
