Hughes to become administrative judge of Carroll

Effective Jan. 6, Judge Barry Hughes will be installed as the administrative judge of the Circuit Court for Carroll County, following the retirement of Judge Michael Galloway.

Galloway has served as Circuit Court judge for more than 16 years, and was named administrative judge in 2003, according to a news release from the Maryland Judiciary.

Hughes served as a law clerk to Judge John Maguire in the Baltimore County Circuit Court, as well as president of the law firm of Hollman, Hughes, Maguire, Timchula & Titus. He has served in the Carroll County Circuit Court since May 2004, working as chairman of the Judiciary's Civil Law and Procedure Committee from 2010 to 2013; as a circuit representative, 5th Judicial Court, on the Judiciary's Conference of Circuit Judges since 2001; and serving on the Legislative Committee of the Maryland Judicial Council, according to the news release.
