Spring Garden having Garden Party at school

'Tis the season for Spring Garden Elementary School's annual Garden Party.

The event will take place, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the school.

There will be carnival games, face painting and the chance to get crazy hair-do's. Another attraction will be the reverse dunk booth. "A balloon filled with water dangles above the dunkee. If the target is hit, the balloon bursts on the top of their head," Tracy Bowman, Spring Garden PTA treasurer and Garden Party chairwoman, wrote in an email.

The day will also include demonstrations and information from North Carroll Recreation Striking Cobras Martial Arts, Carroll Gymnastics, Hampstead fire company, Hampstead Police Department, Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County Public Library and more.

Enjoy lunch while you are there, with pit beef, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and other items available for purchase.

While admission and parking are free, the games and activities will have a small fee ranging from 25 cents to $1 for most of the games, $2 for that one-of-a-kind hairdo and $5 for the face painting.

"All proceeds go directly back into SGE students by helping to pay for field trips, cultural events, technology, and school enhancements," Bowman wrote.

The school is at 700 Boxwood Drive, Hampstead.

For more information, contact Bowman at 410-812-3139.
