Firefighters from throughout the county responded to a fire engulfing a single-family dwelling in the 300 block of Pleasant Valley Road early Thursday morning.
Firefighters were alerted to a house fire around 3:37 a.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found the house was fully involved, according to Charles Simpson of the Pleasant Valley volunteer fire company.
The home's two residents escaped prior to calling 911. No one was injured.
According to the office of the State Fire Marshal, the home collapsed in the blaze, causing an estimated $200,000 of damages to the property. The investigation is into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing.
It took about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. Pleasant Valley, Westminster, New Windsor, Reese, Hampstead, Lineboro and Manchester fire companies, along with firefighters from Littlestown, Pa., responded to the blaze.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, firefighters were still on scene in an attempt to protect neighboring structures.
