Although the parking lot at the Westminster Senior and Community Center was full of voters trying to find a spot Monday afternoon, the 20-minute wait was pretty light, election staff said.
By just after 5 p.m., 1,901 Carroll County residents had cast their vote Monday in 2016 general election early voting.
Statewide for Monday, that number was 87,769 by shortly after 5:30 p.m.
In Carroll County, 1,003 of the voters were registered Republicans, 642 were Democrats and 256 were classified as "other," according to the county Board of Elections.
As voters entered through the senior center's doors, election judge Janice Morris pointed each to the end of the line and provided an estimate on how long they should expect to wait.
"It's about a 20-minute wait," Morris told one woman as she navigated her way into line.
"It's OK," the woman replied. "It's important."
For April and Cathy Siegman, it was their first time voting in a presidential election. They said they were confident in their choice for president: Donald Trump.
"I'm pretty excited to have him in there," said mother Terry Siegman, who accompanied April and Cathy to the polls Monday.
Craig and Leslie Cecil said they made sure to come to early voting to cast their ballots. They wanted to avoid long lines and inconvenience on Election Day.
They said they knew who they planned to vote for long before arriving at the senior center.
No Democrats, Craig Cecil said. "Zero. Ever," he said.
Morris said she was blown away by the turnout. Last week, she said, voters had about an hour wait to get from the back to the front of the line.
"This has been very shocking to me," she said.
But most voters haven't let the lines deter them, Morris said, adding that early morning and late evening seem to be the times when the wait is shortest.
"People [have been] very good in line," Morris said. "It's been great."
Early voting runs through Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Westminster Senior and Community Center, 125 Stoner Ave. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
