The Heart of Maryland Classic Chevy Club, which meets in Mount Airy monthly, will host the 22nd Annual Benefit Car & Truck Show at the Motor Vehicle Administration in Frederick from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21.
The gates will open at 8 a.m. and both car registration and spectator admission are by donation to the Alzheimer's Association, beneficiary of all event proceeds.
"The Heart of Maryland Classic Chevy Club is one big happy family. Our members spend many hours planning this show and the best part is the satisfaction each one of us gets in knowing that all the proceeds are going to a very worthy cause, the Alzheimer's Association," said Frank Baker, club president. "In the past 21 years we have raised over half a million dollars for the Alzheimer's Association. We are extremely proud of that."
This event will include the Windsor Knolls Middle School percussion band performing at 11 a.m. prior to various items going up for auction at noon.
Show entries are eligible for a number of awards. For the Top 30, each registered vehicle owner is given a voting ballot to vote on his or her favorite car or truck. Votes are tallied at the end of the show and the top 30 receive plaques. For the Alzheimer's Association's Pick, the group picks its favorite vehicle. The Club Participation Award will go to the club with the most registered vehicles in attendance. The Ed Zimmerman Award is named for a founding club member who has lost two family members to Alzheimer's disease, so his family picks its favorite vehicle. The Ladies Choice Award is picked by the female members of the club, and the People's Choice Award is chosen by spectators who don't enter a vehicle.
There will be dash plaques for the first 350 preregistered vehicle entrants.
In addition, there will be door prizes, a moon bounce, raffles, oldies music, vendors, Shell gas card giveaway and more. A variety of food will be available for purchase, too.
Vendor spaces are $25 each for a 10-foot by 30-foot space. Setup can begin at 7 a.m., but no T-shirt or food vendors will be allowed.
Please leave your pets at home.
The MVA is at 1601 Bowman's Farm Road.
The event rain date is Oct. 5.
