Lions bringing variety of entertainment to carnival

The Mount Airy Lions Club will have its 74th annual carnival June 1-6 at the Mount Airy carnival grounds, which will open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 11 p.m.

Food will be served nightly, and there will be a variety of entertainment throughout the week from 7 to 10 p.m.

The featured performers for carnival week are: Monday, The General Store Band; Tuesday, Too Much Trouble; Wednesday, Whitehouse Effect; Thursday, Trilogy; Friday, The McDuffees; and Saturday, The Knight Brothers.

Discounted ride tickets are available for $12 each prior to June 1 at Ben Gue Gifts and Collectibles at 4 S. Main St., Mount Airy. The discounted ticket allows you to ride all night on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night.

This is the Mount Airy Lions Club's largest fundraiser of the year, and all proceeds benefit a variety of community projects throughout the year.

"I would like to thank everyone in advance, for all of their support," said Club President Ben Gue said. "Without everyone's generosity, our projects and donations would not be possible."

Event admission and parking are free.

The carnival grounds are at 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mount Airy.
