Sheriff's deputy, woman injured in vehicle collision

Two people, including a Carroll County Sheriff's deputy, were seriously injured after a vehicle collision early Wednesday morning on Md. 26 near Franklinville Road.

Cpl. Brant Webb and the driver of the other vehicle, Anna Nicole Donohoe, 21, of Westminster, were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Donohoe was in critical condition at the hospital as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff Jim DeWees, while Webb was awake and talking.

"His injuries are no longer life-threatening," DeWees said.

Webb suffered multiple injuries requiring surgery, including several broken bones, DeWees said.

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office are currently looking into the crash, which occurred at about 1:41 a.m. Wednesday. Speed might have been a factor, according to police.

Webb is aware of the crash and is helping investigators, DeWees said.

Md. 26 at Franklinville Road was closed until 8:45 a.m. after the crash while officers investigated the scene and attempted to reconstruct the collision, according to the news release.
