The Carroll County Farm Bureau recently announced the winners of the 2015 college scholarships during the Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair: Nicholas Parrish, of Westminster; Brittany Lippy, of Lineboro; Austin Stoner, of Taneytown; Katie Grace Weant, of Taneytown; and Amber Lippy, of Union Bridge. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 toward the winner's college tuition. All winners or their parents/guardians must be members of CCFB and winners must be a full-time college student.
According to Carroll County Farm Bureau's secretary and treasurer, Brenda Barber, applicants were required to write an essay describing how the Farm Bureau can engage farmers, representing all types and kinds of operations, to work together to better promote a more positive image of agriculture. Barber said four scholarships were awarded to agriculture majors and one scholarship was awarded to a non-agriculture major. Selection was made by a scholarship committee designated by the Carroll County Farm Bureau.
