The Taneytown Senior and Community Center will have two parties next week to help liven the end of January.
At noon Tuesday, Jan. 27, the center is featuring a Cabin Fever Party and at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, there will be a Super Bowl Party.
The goal of the Cabin Fever Party is "to get rid of some of the winter blahs," said Center Manager Ruth Martin, with games based on the "Minute to Win It" television show and others such as Sticky Situation, Suck it Up, Hanky Panky, Stack Them High, Marble Roll, Cup Stack and more. The special meal of the day is baked potato, but the deadline to guarantee your meal has already passed.
Visitors to the Super Bowl Party are encouraged to wear their favorite team's shirt or colors, and there will be a chance to practice throwing a foam football through a hoop, Martin said. The featured meal is cheese and pepperoni pizza, tossed salad, diced fruit and fruit juice. To guarantee a meal for the Super Bowl Party, make your reservation by 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28.
The senior center is open to those 60 or older and their spouses, and to those who are disabled and age 50 or older. To become a senior center member, you need to fill out a free membership application at the center. Seniors 60-plus may make a donation of up to $3.42 for each meal; anyone younger than 60 pays $3.42 for a meal.
The senior center is at 220 Roberts Mill Road, Taneytown.
