Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent Stephen Guthrie will present his recommendation for potential school closures at the Board of Education's meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting, which is usually held in the Charles I. Ecker Boardroom of the school system's central office building, will be held at 4 p.m. in the auditorium of Winters Mill High School, located at 560 Gorsuch Road in Westminster.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Cars are not permitted to enter the parking lot until after 3 p.m., according to a school system news release.
The meeting will be streamed live on the CCPS website at www.carrollk12.org. First click on Quick Links on the top of the page. Then click on CETV 21 and CCPS CETV Web streaming, or go to www.carrollk12.org/admin/commedia/cetv/streaming/default.asp.
It will also be broadcast live on Channel 21, with rebroadcasts on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 14 at 9 a.m.; Sunday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m.; and Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.
Citizen participation is included, but time will be limited because the board has a full agenda, the school system said. Speakers are limited to three minutes.
According to the release, the board reserves the right to limit the number of speakers on a particular topic so that all topics can be addressed. If 30 minutes have passed and there are citizens who have not addressed the board, additional time may be allotted later in the meeting.
Four public hearings will be held in different parts of the county once the board provides specific direction to school system staff regarding redistricting and school closures.
