Access Carroll is hosting two free events to help Carroll residents put out their tobacco products for good Thursday in conjunction with the American Cancer Society's long-running Great American Smokeout anti-tobacco campaign.
A walk-in lunch program will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Access Carroll's Westminster office, where both food and information about Carroll County's resources for smoking cessation will be on hand, according to Access Carroll Executive Director Tammy Black.
"It's come and go as you want," she said. "Walk through to grab a bite to eat and see presentations set up about smoking risks and cessation opportunities."
In the evening, Access Carroll will host a dinner with presentations for those who are serious about making an effort to quit right now.
"It's more of a sit-down presentation with a real nice dinner," Black said. "Leading the presentations are Notre Dame [of Maryland University school] of pharmacy students."
While the dinner event is free, pre-registration is required, and those interested in attending should call 410-871-1478 by 4 p.m. to claim a spot.
Both events will be held at Access Carroll, 10 Distillery Drive, Suite 200, Westminster.
