A two-vehicle collision left one person dead and another injured late Saturday morning in Finksburg.
Maryland State Police said a 32-year-old man driving a Chrysler sedan was traveling eastbound at about 11:30 a.m. when he approached the Md. 140 intersection. The man attempted to travel through the intersection when his vehicle struck a Dodge Ram truck that was turning left from Md. 140 onto Md. 91. The Chrysler then spun into a pole, said Trooper Christopher Loudin, who responded to the scene.
Loudin said witnesses told police that the light had been red for several seconds before the Chrysler reached the intersection.
The 32-year-old, who police did not identify, died at the scene, Loudin said. The other driver did not require medical care and a passenger, who Loudin said was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to Carroll Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Loudin said sections of Md. 91 as well as eastbound Md. 140 were shut down for about two hours.
