Colin K. Bradley, of Eldersburg, received a commission as a second lieutenant in the Air Force in a May 10 ceremony at Clemson University. Bradley majored in management at Clemson. Following the commissioning ceremony, the newly appointed lieutenants participated in a Silver Dollar Salute ceremony at Clemson's Military Heritage Plaza. The ceremony marked the first salute the officers received from an enlisted member. As a sign of mutual respect, the officer presented the enlisted member with a silver dollar.

Morgan L. Fagnant, of Eldersburg, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. The 2013 graduate of Century High School received a Bachelor of Science degree and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. The academy is a four-year military institution of higher learning, providing instruction, education, training and experience in academics, military training, physical and athletic conditioning, and spiritual and ethical development.
