New family practice and urgent care opening

Magass Family Medicine & Urgent Care, 2970 Dede Road, Finksburg, will host an opening day celebration on Feb. 3, with a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. The celebration will end at approximately 6 p.m. The husband and wife team of Melissa Smith Magassouba and Moriba Magassouba have a goal of providing comprehensive urgent and primary care, and offer a full array of medical services including treatment of general acute illness, minor injuries, and physicals for all ages.

Melissa, a 2003 graduate of Westminster High School, completed the certified nursing assistant program at Carroll County Career and Technology Center. She attained her degree in biology and nursing at Salisbury University, and then worked as a registered nurse at University of Maryland Medical Center. She furthered her education at York College to achieve a master's in nursing as a primary care adult-gerontology nurse practitioner. Moriba is physician assistant and public health analyst by profession, and has practiced medicine for almost 10 years. His experience includes being a hospitalist, with the majority of clinical expertise in urgent and primary care settings.

Normal hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. The office will be closed Sundays. For more information, visit www.magassmed.com.
