The National Association of the Remodeling Industry Mid-Maryland Chapter named Houseworks Unlimited 2014 Contractor of the Year Grand Winner for Kitchens $50,000-$100,000, at its Evening of Excellence Awards on Nov. 7 at Worthington Manor in Urbana.

Entrants are judged on before and after photography and project descriptions, with focus on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.

Based in Mount Airy and founded in 1990 by owner and president Craig Knott, certified remodeler, Houseworks Unlimited is a residential remodeling firm specializing in home design and renovation solutions, serving Howard, Montgomery, Frederick and Carroll counties. Knott also established the Mid-Maryland Chapter of NARI in 2003 and served as president for the first two years.
