The Carroll County Farm Museum has a full event schedule with a variety of volunteer positions available in 2019. The museum is looking for assistance in its Victorian tea room as well as volunteer docents in the Farmhouse, historical artisans in the Living History Center and Hoff Barn guides.

Volunteer tea room staff assist with behind the scenes catering duties at the museum's teas. These positions are open to adults as well as students age 12 and older who need to earn school service hours. Students do not have to serve the public to participate in this volunteer activity.

Farmhouse docents are trained to give guided tours in the Farmhouse to Museum visitors during the week and on the weekends during museum events. Costumes are provided. Potential docents must interview with the museum's curatorial staff. These positions are ideal for anyone age 16 and older who is interested in history, historical homes and 18th-century life.

The Hoff Barn is an original 1790s barn that offers visitors the opportunity to witness Carroll County's agricultural history. Hoff Barn guides are given teaching materials and are invited to a training session in the early spring that will help them demonstrate farming and agriculture to school-age and general audiences. Costumes are also provided.

The Farm Museum encourages and is looking for historical trade or craft demonstrators. Current openings include open hearth cooking, woodworking, quilting, rug hooking, weaving, spinning and other fiber arts. Other historical crafts are also welcome.

To volunteer, contact the museum at 800-654-4645, ccfarm@carrollcountymd.gov or visit www.carrollcountyfarmmuseum.org.
