Christopher T. Oswald has been named executive vice president-chief operations officer at Farmers and Merchants Bank. Oswald has more than 30 years of community banking experience, including 23 years with the Farmers and Merchants Bank. He has served the bank as senior vice president since 2000 and as chief operations officer since 2006. He manages numerous other functions for the bank including marketing and security along with training and compliance responsibilities.

Mark C. Krebs has been named executive vice president-chief financial officer of Farmers and Merchants Bank. Krebs, a certified public accountant, joined the bank in 2010 as senior vice president-chief financial officer after an extensive career in the mortgage industry and public accounting. He directs all of the finance and accounting functions of the bank and its parent company Farmers and Merchants Bancshares Inc. His responsibilities include financial, regulatory and tax reporting along with investment portfolio liquidity and asset-liability management.

Teresa L. "Terry" Smack has been elected to the board of directors of Farmers and Merchants Bancshares Inc. and its primary subsidiary, the Farmers and Merchants Bank. Smack is the owner of Terry's Tag and Title Service LLC, a licensed tag and title agent for the State of Maryland. She is also co-owner of ANL LLC, also a tag and title agency, and is the founder, past president and current vice president of the Maryland Vehicle Titling Association.

Farmers and Merchants Bank was chartered in Maryland in 1919 and serves the deposit and financing needs of consumers and businesses, with its main office in Upperco, and additional branches in Owings Mills, Hampstead, Greenmount, Reisterstown and Westminster.
