Woman detained after stabbing in New Windsor

A 26-year-old man was sent to Shock Trauma at University of Maryland Medical Center after he was stabbed Monday morning in New Windsor.

Police have not released the name of the victim. He was taken to shock trauma as a precaution, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, said Cpl. Jonathan Light, spokesman with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.


Police were called to the 2000 block of Valley View Orchard Road around 8:37 a.m. for the report of a stabbing, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, a 29-year-old woman, had fled the scene to a residence on Sandel Lane in Westminster by the time deputies arrived on scene, according to the release.

Deputies detained the suspect and detectives questioned her. She had been released as of 8:27 p.m. Monday, according to the release.

The investigation was pending and charges had not been pressed against the woman as of 8:27 p.m.

Once the investigation is complete, the results will be given to the State's Attorney's Office, and it will decide if there are possible charges, according to the release.
